WebP → PNG

Convert WebP to PNG

Turn WebP into PNG when an older editor, an office template, or a CMS doesn't read WebP yet — without losing WebP's transparency. Everything happens in your browser, nothing gets uploaded.

When you need to go back from WebP to PNG

WebP is great for the web, but plenty of everyday tools still don't read it: older image editors, PowerPoint or Word templates, some CMS upload fields, and printers all tend to reject WebP while accepting PNG without any trouble.

It's also useful for layer-based editing — some apps with limited or no WebP support handle PNG natively, so converting first avoids compatibility errors when you open the file.

Transparency is kept, not lost

Unlike converting to JPG, going from WebP to PNG keeps transparency intact — both formats support an alpha channel, so a transparent WebP logo or cutout stays transparent as a PNG.

If you actually want the opposite — flattening the image onto a solid background instead of keeping transparency — convert to JPG instead, where you can pick a fill color.

What to expect from the file size

The resulting PNG is usually bigger than the source WebP, since WebP compresses more efficiently. That's a normal tradeoff you're making for compatibility, not a mistake in the conversion.

If the final destination is the web again — not an old editor, template, or print job — think about whether you need PNG at all; keeping WebP will usually serve you better there.

Frequently asked questions

Is transparency kept when converting WebP to PNG?

Yes. Both formats support an alpha channel, so transparent areas stay transparent.

Why is the PNG bigger than the WebP?

WebP compresses more efficiently, so a bigger PNG after conversion is expected — it's a compatibility tradeoff, not a way to save space.

Does this work for office templates or printing?

Yes, it's one of the most common cases — office apps and printers that don't recognize WebP accept PNG without issues.

Can I convert multiple WebP files at once?

Yes, add a batch and download everything as a ZIP with "Download all."
